The 13th batch of the Post Graduate Programme in Business Management (PGPBM), inaugurated at the Indian Institute of Management Tiruchirappalli (IIM Trichy), Chennai Campus, took place on September 7th. This weekend MBA program, aimed at working professionals, focuses on leadership development and equips participants with the skills required to excel in senior management roles.
Several distinguished guests attended the ceremony, including the Chief Guest, Shri. Rohit Kumar Agrawala, Director (Finance) at Chennai Petroleum Corporation Limited, and the Guest of Honour, Shri. Rajagopala Vaidhyanathan, CEO and Director, Sakthi Steel Industries India Pvt. Ltd., and a PGPBM alumnus. Other notable attendees included Dr. Pawan Kumar Singh, Director, IIM Tiruchirappalli, Prof. Gopal V, Dean Academics, Prof. Godwin Tennyson, Dean Administration and Prof. Gajanand M. S, Chairperson PGPBM.
The event began with an invocation song and the traditional lighting of the lamp. In his inaugural address, Shri. Rohit Kumar Agrawala emphasized the importance of peer learning and applying acquired skills to real-world business challenges. He encouraged participants to explore various domains and recognize the significance of all business functions in an organization's success. Drawing from his personal experiences, the Chief Guest highlighted the long-term benefits of the lessons learned during one's educational journey. He urged participants to pursue excellence with a strong sense of purpose.
Shri. Rajagopala Vaidhyanathan shared his global business experiences and underscored the value of case studies and cross-functional learning. He emphasized the importance of preparation, active class participation, and the development of communication skills. He congratulated the participants and wished them success throughout their two-year journey.
Dr. Pawan Kumar Singh welcomed the new batch and highlighted the importance of self-care, peer learning, and embracing challenges. He encouraged students to go beyond the program's goals and focus on shaping themselves as future leaders capable of making ethical and informed decisions.
In his welcome address, Prof. Gopal V stressed the program's objectives and the participant's role in contributing to its success. He urged them to embrace the learning journey and make the most of the program to excel in their careers.
Prof. Godwin Tennyson commended the students for their dedication and emphasized the importance of concept application and a positive mindset shift. He advised participants to remain engaged with their studies, even in a weekend program, highlighting the potential for knowledge creation through collective learning experiences.
Prof. Gajanand M. S provided an overview of the program's curriculum and thanked the administration for their support in establishing the new campus facility. He outlined the program's goals, including fostering strategic and practical thinking, leadership development, and an entrepreneurial mindset.
The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms. Divya, who thanked all the dignitaries, guests, staff, and students for making the event a success, followed by the National Anthem.
