World Food Day and National Food Day Celebrations

The Department of Chemistry, Lady Doak College, Madurai, commemorated World Food Day and National food Day together on 20.09.24 as Food Day celebrations. Special address for the day was delivered by Mr. Saravanan, Food Safety Officer, Food Safety and Standards Authority of India, Sivagangai District on the topic Consumer Awareness Towards Food Safety and Standards.


This was followed by an elaborate food day exhibition which was inaugurated by Dr. Beulah Jeyashree, Principal & Secretary, Lady Doak College, Madurai.  The exhibition highlighted  various concepts like Nutritive Value of Food products, Food Additives, Food Adulteration and Food Pesticides through  simple demonstrations and chemical tests using food products consumed in day-to-day life and created a wide spread awareness among the visitors.   


Nearly 300 visitors including faculty members, non-teaching staffs and students were benefited from the programme. The programme was coordinated and organised by Dr. M. Anusha Rani, & Dr. P. Silviya Reeta, Assistant Professor, Department of Chemistry, Lady Doak College, Madurai.
