The Center for Environmental Studies organized a One-day Capacity Building Programme-Phase I on “Studio Based Approaches: Transformative Environmental Education” on 1st October 2024. This program is designed for Environmental Studies elective teachers, following TANSCHE guidelines to transition the course into a studio-based format.
Dr. R. Nimma Elizabeth, Vice-Principal, Lady Doak College, Madurai delivered the Introductory remarks. She also pointed out the significance of environmental education a pathway for our sustainable future.
The Resource Person Mr. Navneeth Krishnan, Founder & CEO Flying Hornbill, Chennai delivered a meaningful discussion with the faculty under the theme of “sustainability and Beyond - An Introduction to Environmental Studies”. He also shared his real time experiences and pointed out the endangered animals and species and insists the role of human beings to protect them. He gave more information about hotspots in India and how to preserve it.
The session II was handled by Dr.T.R.Sivapriya Associate professor, Department of Computer Science on the theme “Studio Based Teaching Strategies for Environmental Studies”. She introduced various interactive online teaching tools for engaging the student community in an interesting way. Around thirty faculty members were benefited through this program. The program was coordinated by Ms. M. Lakshmi and Dr. S. Lakshmi Subha from the Center for Environmental Studies.
