Lady Doak College commemorates World Mental Health Day 2024 on the theme, 'It is Time to Prioritise Mental Health in the Workplace', on 10th October 2024, reverberating the core of its significance. The Deans of Student Affairs, the Student Cabinet, organised the event in collaboration with the Counselling Centre.
The members of the college community undertook a pledge to prioritise mental health and well-being. Dr. Belinda Bennet, Chairperson, Board of Directors KWEA and Dr. R. Beulah Jeyashree, Principal and Secretary, Lady Doak College, inaugurated the celebration through interesting initiatives like, Graffiti Board, Labyrinth Walk, Balloon Bursters, Photo Booth, Green Memories, Shrink Stigma, and Circles of Joy.
Students of the Department of Social Sciences enacted a play emphasising on the need for minimising the stigma towards Mental Illnesses and hence expand the zone of wellness through social inclusion. Dr. S. Arockia Shyamala Paniyarasi, Dr.T.Mowna Sundari Deans of Student Affairs , and Dr. J.Julie Prathiba, Dr. C. Esther Elizabeth Grace , Assistant Deans of Student Affairs, Mrs. J. Juanita, Counsellor, encouraged the members of the College Community to take part in all events. Nearly 4500 individuals (students, faculty, and nonteaching staff) involved themselves in the celebration, meaningfully with enthusiasm and active participation.
The heartfelt involvement of the Student Cabinet deserves a lot of appreciation. The College community that believes in Peace Education to be the integral part of Whole Person Education, commits itself to be enhancers of psychological nourishment, in the days and years to come, too.
