Lady Doak College organized Lecture on Workplace Culture in VUCA World

The Department of Social Sciences of Lady Doak College organized the first lecture of Ms. Shanti Manuel Leadership Lecture Series on 10th October 2024. The lecture series was instituted in memory of Ms. Shanti Manuel who served as the Former Principal of Lady Doak College and Professor at the Department of Social Sciences. She was an influential leader and the institution established many milestones during her principalship of about 26 years. The lecture series was instituted on 18th March 2023 to celebrate the enduring leadership of Ms. Manuel.


Dr. Belinda Bennet, Chairperson, Board of Directors of Katie Wilcox Education Association and Chief International Programs Officer, Children Believe, Canada delivered the Keynote address on the theme ‘Workplace Culture in VUCA World’.  VUCA stands for Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity and Ambiguity.  She also briefly mentioned her association with Ms. Manuel as a student and her strong imprints of leadership. 


Around 50 faculty members from various departments participated in the lecture. The Introductory remarks were given by the Principal and Secretary Dr. Beulah Jeyashree focusing on the pragmatic leadership of former Principal Ms. Shanti Manuel. Dr. Joyce Georgina John, Assistant Professor and Head in charge of the department welcomed the gathering. Ms. Vidhya Lakshmi R., Assistant Professor gave a brief introduction on the conception of the lecture series. 


Ms. Preethi Pandian R. Assistant Professor, introduced the keynote speaker and Ms. Kavibharathi S., Assistant Professor, delivered the vote of thanks. The event was organized well with the support of all faculty members of the Department of Social Sciences.
