TNAU organized the “International Day of Awareness of Food Loss and Waste”

Tamil Nadu Agricultural University’s Agricultural Engineering College and Research Institute’s Food Club organized the “International Day of Awareness of Food Loss and Waste” on 29th September 2024. 


The theme for the year is “Climate Finance for Food Loss and Waste Reduction” with a call on urgent need for investment to tackle the presssing challenges of ensuring food security and mitigating the climate change.  Various events namely Awareness rally, Quiz, Poster presentation, Meme creation were conducted as a part of the awareness program. The awareness rally was flagged off by Dr.V.Geethalakshmi,  Vice-Chancellor of TNAU, Coimbatore.


Dr.V.Geethalakshmi, Vice-Chancellor of TNAU,  Dr.A.Raviraj, Dean (Engg.), Dr.N.Maragatham, Dean (Students Welfare) and Dr. M. Balakrishnan, Professor and Head, Department of Food Process Engineering addressed the gathering, highlighting the importance of Food loss and waste prevention for food security and environmental sustainability. Around 600 participants comprising students and faculty members of TNAU participated in the awareness rally, chanting slogans to create awareness of food loss and waste prevention among the masses.
