It is customary to celebrate Bharathiar’s birth anniversary on December 11 every year with commemorative events.
In this spirit, Sethu Bhaskara Agricultural College and Research Institute, Karaikudi, marked the occasion with a grand celebration on December 11, 2024. The event featured distinguished participation from professor, poet, scholar, and speaker Abdul Khader, who delivered the keynote address. Joining him were Mr. Vanangamudi, Mr. Sukumar, and Mr. Karthik, who also contributed to the occasion.
The event was graced by the college's trustee, Dr. Sethu Kumanan, who delivered a congratulatory speech. Dr. Kanmani Subramanian, a member of the Sethu Valliammal Trust and Vice-Principal of Soka Ikeda College of Arts and Science, Chennai, along with Dr. Vishnupriya, Vice-Principal of Sethu Bhaskara Agricultural College, presided over the event.
In his address, poet Abdul Khader elaborated on Bharathiar’s patriotism, valor, and his contributions to language and poetry. He remarked:
"When Bharathi walks, the nation follows."
"Just as Bharathiar was passionate about the liberation of the nation, he also cherished the liberation of women."
"The farming community must be seen as today’s laboring society," highlighting the significance of agriculture.
His inspiring speech instilled patriotism, equality, and hope among students and faculty alike.
