The Unit Approval Committee (UAC) of MEPZ SEZ, chaired by Thiru. Alex Paul Menon, IAS, Development Commissioner, MEPZ SEZ convened ie 23.12.24 to review and approve key proposals aimed at boosting economic growth and job creation within the zone. The Committee successfully disposed of 22 proposals, reflecting MEPZ SEZ’s commitment to enhancing business growth.

Approved Investments: A total of Rs. 194.20 crore was approved for new projects in SEZ units.
Employment Generated: The approved projects are expected to generate 6028 new jobs, contributing significantly to the region's employment landscape.

As is the practice MEPZ SEZ remains committed to simplifying the approval process and fostering a business-friendly environment. The UAC reiterated its policy of providing same-day Letters of Approval (LoAs) for projects that comply with all regulatory criteria.
Thiru. Alex Paul Menon, IAS, stated that holding UAC meetings every fortnight would facilitate prompt approvals for new units, enabling them to commence operations without delay, while ensuring smooth processing for existing units without disrupting their daily activities. He also encouraged all units and SEZs to introduce scholarship schemes for women employees, emphasizing that such initiatives would inspire more women to pursue education. Additionally, he urged each unit and SEZ to identify the specific skills needed in their sector and either provide skill-based training or inform the DC office of their manpower requirements to address the demand for skilled workers effectively.
With these recent approvals, MEPZ SEZ has facilitated investments that will inject substantial capital into the region and generate new job opportunities, advancing its commitment to economic growth and development.
