SKCET hosting the Grand Finale of ‘Smart India Hackathon (SIH) 2024’ for the Fifth time

Sri Krishna College of Engineering and Technology (SKCET), Kuniamuthur, Coimbatore has been chosen by the Ministry of Education (MoE) and All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) for hosting the Grand Finale of ‘Smart India Hackathon (SIH) 2024’ for the Fifth time during 11th and 12th December 2024. SKCET is chosen as one among Top 51 nodal centres across India.


It is a 36-hour, nonstop digital product development competition where student teams from across India compete to deliver innovative solutions to pressing challenges. Smart India Hackathon is conducted every year since 2017 in two formats i.e. SIH Software and SIH Hardware Editions. Each problem statement carries a winning cash prize of ₹1 lakh.


A total of 20 teams, comprising 120 participants, are competing to solve four problem statements provided by the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Panchayati Raj and the Government of NCT of Delhi.


The inauguration of this SIH 2024 Grand Finale was Presided and Initiated by S.Malarvizhi, Chairperson and Managing Trustee, Sri Krishna Institutions, Coimbatore. 


Selvakumar Balasubramani, Delivery Center Head, Tata Consultancy Services, Coimbatore was the Chief Guest and addressed the gathering. He emphasised the need for being curious and stated that Innovation is the need of the hour. A constant need for learning new technologies will aid in solving the societal needs. He quoted our honourable PM and said, “Through SIH, the youth power of the country is extracting the Amrit of Solutions for developed India.”  He encouraged the participants to give their best in their respective problem statements and pave way by providing digital innovative disruptive solutions for a better humanity.


Dr. K. Senthil Ganesh, Managing Trustee, RVS group of Educational Institutions was the Guest of honour. Aakansha Shejal and Vaishnavi Gaikwad, Nodal Centre Heads from Pune, Dhanakoti.S, UI/UX Mentor, Arnab Chatterjee from the National Council of Science Museums, Kolkata and Krishenndu Choudhury from the National Council of Science Museums, Patna, Dr.K.Sundararaman, CEO, Sri Krishna Institutions, Dr.K.Porkumaran, Principal, SKCET and Dr.P.Ashoka Varthanan, Dean Innovations and Head of Mechanical Engineering were graced.


To inspire and motivate the participants, Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi will be addressing and interacting with the participants at SKCET through video conferencing.


Apart from hosting SIH 2024, 17 teams from Sri Krishna college of Engineering and Technology have been shortlisted to participate in the Grand finale of Smart India Hackathon (SIH) 2024 Software and Hardware editions in other nodal centres.
