Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Coimbatore Branch Office, commemorated its 78th Foundation Day at Jenny’s Residency, Coimbatore. This year’s celebration was centered around the theme “BIS – Building Industries through Standards”, emphasizing the critical role of standards in fostering innovation, ensuring quality, and driving industrial growth with emphasis on celebration of BIS’s legacy and its contributions to quality, safety, and sustainability and thus ensuring Consumer Protection to foster a culture of quality consciousness nation. This significant event was witnessed by 165 representatives from various large / medium industries and Industrial associations across Coimbatore Jurisdiction.
The event started with the Thamizh Thai Vazhthu which was followed by Manak Geet. Shri V. Ramesh, Director, BIS Coimbatore, highlighted the enduring commitment of BIS to excellence. He reflected on how BIS has served as a reliable pillar, guiding industries and safeguarding consumer interests through its steadfast dedication to quality and standards and the need & importance of active industry participation in developing and implementing standards to ensure quality and innovation.
Guest Speakers: As part of the program, Shri C. Murugesan, VP-Design & Development, AQUA Group of Companies and Shri K. Mohan Senthil Kumar, President, Si'Tarc delivered insightful talks, sharing their perspectives on the theme. They discussed the achievements of BIS and its pivotal role in driving growth and excellence in industries, particularly how BIS and Standards helped the Coimbatore Pump industry for the last five decades which allowed them to compete at international markets
Adding to the discourse, Shri Rino John S., Joint Director, BIS, gave an engaging presentation on the standard promotion activities of BIS, shedding light on its ongoing efforts to strengthen industries through the adoption and implementation of robust standards, presentation on laboratory services ecosystem of BIS and their role in ensuring product compliance with standards. This was followed by screening of Videos on IEC and Audacity of Optimism video
The event successfully brought together industry leaders, stakeholders, and BIS officials to celebrate the organization’s legacy and its contributions to nation-building. The event also promoted awareness about the critical role of standards in driving innovation, industrial growth, and sustainable development. Through this program we reinforced the commitment of BIS to foster a quality-first culture, enhance stakeholder engagement, and leverage technology to create sustainable & inclusive standards with active involvement and cooperation of the Stakeholders. The BIS Coimbatore Branch remains committed to promoting standardization and quality assurance, empowering industries, and enhancing consumer safety for a better tomorrow.
