Dr. Scott Angle, Senior Vice President of the University of Florida’s Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (UF-IFAS), visited the Centre for Plant Molecular Biology & Biotechnology (CPMB) at Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU). He was accompanied by a delegation comprising Dr. Adesogan Tolulope Adegbola, Director of UF-IFAS; and Professors Vijaya Gopal Kakani, Jasmeet Judge and Andrew Ogram.
The visit follows a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between TNAU and UF-IFAS, aimed at fostering collaborations in research and teaching, as well as facilitating student and researcher exchanges. During the tour, Dr.Angle commended the advanced facilities at CPMB, including the metabolomics laboratory, Bt research lab, and commercial plant tissue culture facility. He also expressed interest in pursuing joint research on topics of mutual interest.
In addition, the delegation interacted with undergraduate students from the Department of Plant Biotechnology, encouraging them to explore higher education opportunities at the University of Florida. The team received an overview of ongoing projects and future plans from Dr. N. Senthil, Director of CPMB&B; Dr. E. Kokiladevi, Head of the Department of Plant Biotechnology; and Dr. L. Arul, Head of the Department of Plant Molecular Biology & Bioinformatics.
