The PG & Research Department of History, Research Centre and Department of Economics & Department of Social Sciences, Lady Doak College in collaboration with the Research Institute for Social Science organised the 5th International Research Conference from 24/02/2025 to 25/02/2025 at Lady Doak College. The inaugural session of the conference was held on 24/02/2025 at 3 pm in Dr. Betty Chinnaiah Multimedia Theatre.
The conference began with a word of prayer by Dr. Jessie Ranjitha Jebaselvi, Chaplain & Associate Professor of English, Lady Doak College. Dr. M. Helen Mary Jacqueline, Dean of Academic Affairs, Head & Associate Professor of Economics, Lady Doak College welcomed the gathering and Dr. S. Mercy Packiam, Controller of Examinations, Head & Associate Professor of History, Lady Doak College delivered the introductory remarks about the conference and introduced the resource persons. The session was presided over by Dr. R. Beulah Jeyashree, Principal and Secretary, Lady Doak College. Dr. G. Paramasivan, Chairman EAST and RISS, Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu felicitated the event and Mr. Sithamparanathan Uthayakumar, Senior Lecturer in Economics, Grade I, Department of Economics, Faculty of Arts, University of Jaffna, Sri Lanka delivered the keynote address. This was followed by the cultural programmes performed by the students.
The second day of the conference began with lectures delivered by Dr. K. Sadasivam (Associate Professor of Environmental Economics, School of Economics, Madurai Kamaraj University, Madurai) and Dr. Kathiravan (Associate Professor of Economics, St. John’s College, Tirunelveli). Faculty, research scholars and students of various institutions presented their research papers in two sessions. Prof. Dr. J. Kennedy (Dean, Faculty of Graduate Studies, Professor in English, Dept. of Languages, Eastern University, Sri Lanka) delivered the valedictory address.
