The Programme started with the prayer Om Sahanavavatu, followed by Tamil Thai Vazhthu and the college song. Dr. K. Karthikeyan, Vice Principal, Vivekananda College, delivered the welcome address. He spoke about the significance of our Founder’s Jayanti Day, and he mentioned the remarkable achievements established by our management, the Principal, and the Faculty members for the welfare of our students. He additionally highlighted the accomplishments of our chief guest, Dr. E. Our Secretary, Srimath Swami Vedananda Maharaj, blessed the gathering through his eloquent speech. He spoke about the life history of our founder, Swamiji, Srimath Swami Chidbhavananda Maharaj, from his birth. He said that the original name of our founder, Swamiji was “Chinnu.” He was from a respected family. Our founder Swamiji was excellent in his studies and accomplished many achievements during his career as a student. Later on Swami Chidbhavananda had a chance to pursue his education in England, but he renounced it as he got inspired by the works of Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa and Swami Vivekananda. Soon he joined Sri Ramakrishna Math as a Monk as a disciple of Srimath Swami Sivananda, who was one of the disciples of Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa. Srimath Swami Sivananda insisted Swami Chidbhavananda Maharaj to start a Monastery in southern part of India, and to preach the religious doctrines of Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa and Swami Vivekananda. Then he said the students to keep our founder Swamiji as role model and insisted them to work for our country after completing their education.
Our Kulapathi, Srimath Swami Adhyatmananda Maharaj shared his views about the achievements of our founder Swamiji and mentioned his important establishments for the welfare of our country during his lifetime. Srimath Swami Chidbhavananda Maharaj constructed Sri Ramakrishna Tapovanam at Tirupparaithurai in Tiruchirappalli in 1941. In 1971, he constructed Vivekananda College — a Gurukula Institute of Life Training at Tiruvedakam in Madurai — which serves as a role model to other institutions all over the country. Our Kulapathi Swamiji said that our founder Swamiji owns the name “Military Swamiji” because of his strictness in every possible aspect in managing the institutions. He also added his own concepts relating to his alma mater.
Our Principal, Dr. T. Venkatesan, presided over the programme and read out the college activities for the academic year 2024-2025. He mentioned the various achievements accomplished by all the Departments in the college. He continued to read the achievements of the Faculty members of all the Departments, which included Dr. T. Venkatesan, Principal & Associate Professor of Commerce, as NAAC Peer team member, who visited four institutions and accredited them. He also attended International Conferences and participated in seminars. Dr. K. Karthikeyan, Vice Principal, Head & Associate Professor of Commerce, Vivekananda College, had completed nine Swayam- NPTEL courses and acted as an external examiner for Viva Voce organized in various institutions, and so on.
