In a meaningful step towards enriching academic collaboration and fostering a culture of learning, the Kalaignar Centenary Library signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Lady Doak College, Madurai on 27th May, 2025. This partnership aims to cultivate skill-based learning opportunities and strengthen student engagement through literary, technological, and community-centred initiatives.
As part of the agreement, students will benefit from experiential training programmes, motivational camps for competitive examinations, and opportunities to participate in International Book Fairs. The library will also support various college activities by offering multi-purpose halls at concessional rates. In addition, both institutions will work together on technology-led solutions and collaborative literary events, including the Youth Literary Festival.
Students can avail themselves of borrowing privileges for up to 60 days without any penalty using their college ID and library membership card.
The partnership also envisions the promotion of reading habits through faculty-led sessions, along with community outreach efforts such as English language training, storytelling sessions for children, and the conversion of reading materials into audio formats for the visually impaired.
The formal signing was attended by senior representatives from both institutions. From the Kalaignar Centenary Library, Dr V. Dinesh Kumar (Chief Librarian and Information Officer), Mr V. Santhanakrishnan (Deputy Chief Librarian and Information Officer), and Mrs K. Sivakamasundari (Assistant Librarian and Information Officer) were present.Representing Lady Doak College, the event saw the presence of Dr. Beulah Jeyashree, Principal & Secretary, Professor & Head, PG Department and Research Centre of English, Dr. Jessie Ranjitha Jebaselvi, Head in Charge & Associate Professor of English and Dr. Nissi Karunya, Assistant Professor of English.
This collaboration marks a promising beginning, with the Kalaignar Centenary Library exploring similar partnerships with other institutions in the future.
