Lady Doak College, Madurai, has launched a pioneering initiative, “Earn While You Learn: Crafting Careers in Cloth,” under the visionary leadership of its Principal, Dr. Beulah Jeyashree. Implemented by the Career Guidance & Placement Cell, Internship Cell, and Alumnae Association, the project provides students with the unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in tailoring and garment-making while pursuing their studies.
The scheme not only offers financial independence but also equips students with entrepreneurial skills, teamwork, time management, quality control, and customer engagement. By blending academics with practical skill-building, the programme prepares students to become both professionals and entrepreneurs.
The project is further strengthened through industry partnerships with Mr. Nawaz Babu (S.A. Knitwear) and Mr. Venkatachalam (Meena Fashions, Madurai), ensuring real-world exposure and mentorship for students.
Speaking on the occasion, the Principal emphasized that this initiative bridges the gap between classroom learning and industry needs, reflecting Lady Doak College’s commitment to holistic education and women’s empowerment.
