A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between the Family Planning Association of India (FPAI) and the Department of Economics at Lady Doak College highlighting the parties' intention to collaborate closely in developing and offering a comprehensive academic and research framework focused on healthcare economics and public health policy.
This partnership aims to enhance educational opportunities and research initiatives that address pressing health challenges and inform effective public health strategies. This significant partnership underscores both organizations' commitment to improving family planning and reproductive health services across the region.
The agreement is designed to foster collaboration on various fronts, including the development and implementation of educational programs such as workshops, seminars, and training focused on reproductive health and family planning. It also includes capacity-building activities like internship training for students of LDC that provide skills related to reproductive health, enabling them to serve as informed advocates within their communities. The signing of this MoU marks a pivotal moment in the ongoing effort to empower women through education and health awareness. Dr. S. Prathiban, General Manager, FPA India, Madurai, remarked, “This partnership with Lady Doak College is a crucial step forward in promoting informed choices in family planning and enhancing the overall health of women in our society.”
Dr. Beulah Jeyashree R., Principal & Secretary of Lady Doak College, emphasized the college's long-standing commitment to women's education and empowerment which will be enhanced with this MoU. The witness signatures were provided by Mrs. S. Keerthana, Program Officer at FPAI, and Dr. Helen Mary Jacqueline M., Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Economics at Lady Doak College. Present at the ceremony were members of the organizing committee, Dr. Devi Priya P. and Dr. Anitha Selvaraj who expressed enthusiasm about the partnership.
Both organizations expressed confidence that this partnership will lead to significant advancements in women's health and family planning awareness, ultimately contributing to healthier families and communities in India.
