The Girl Empowerment Mission (GEM) 2025 Summer Workshop, organized by NTECL Vallur, concluded successfully on Saturday, May 31, 2025. This month-long initiative, which commenced on May 3, is part of NTPC’s flagship CSR program aimed at empowering young girls through education, life skills, and cultural activities.
For the fourth consecutive year, NTECL Vallur hosted the Girl Empowerment Mission (GEM) 2025, bringing together 35 girls aged 10 to 12 from nine government schools in the neighboring villages of NTECL. The program focused on holistic development through a blend of academic sessions, yoga, music, dance, sports, and confidence-building activities. A 10-day residential component further enriched the experience, providing a supportive and engaging environment for the participants.
The valedictory function held at the NTECL Township was a vibrant affair, celebrating the achievements and growth of the young participants. The event was attended by esteemed dignitaries, including District Collector Thiru M. Prathap was the Chief Guest, Shri Sanjay Kumar Singh, CEO, NTECL, and Smt. Anju Sinha, President, Deepa Jyothi Ladies Club, NTECL were also present.
The valedictory function of GEM Workshop 2025 was further enriched by captivating performances from the GEM participants, including traditional dances, group songs, and creative skits, which were met with enthusiastic applause from the audience.
Speaking at the event, Thiru M. Prathap, District Collector Tiruvallur applauded NTECL’s efforts in creating meaningful opportunities for young girls to explore their potential through a unique and dedicated program like the GEM Workshop. He also lauded NTECL’s continued commitment to undertake CSR initiatives throughout the district across various domains of development.
The Winter edition of the Girl Empowerment Mission Workshop is scheduled for December 2025, which will bring together all the GEM participants again for a refresher program and an official closing of the batch of GEM 2025 participants.
