As part of the Government of India’s initiative to promote international collaboration in agriculture and water resource management, four-months capacity building training program is being conducted for Irrigation/Agricultural Engineers from the Government of Rwanda at Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore. The program focuses on advanced technologies in irrigation, soil and water conservation, farm machinery, and bio-energy.

A key component of the program included a technical industrial visit to Aquasub Engineering (Aqua Group), Coimbatore—one of India’s largest and most advanced pump manufacturers. The company is renowned for its Texmo and Aquatex brand pump sets for domestic use, and the atx brand for international markets. During the visit, eight Rwandan engineers received specialized hands-on training in: Pump selection procedures for various agricultural field conditions. Performance evaluation and troubleshooting of pump systems. Design of irrigation systems using energy-efficient agricultural pumps, special application pumps, and solar-powered pumping systems.

The entire training session at Aquasub Engineering was efficiently coordinated and conducted by Mr. V.A. Sureshkumar (Manager – Marketing Department). The team also benefited from technical presentations by: Mr. U.V. Ravi (Head, Unit 4) and Mr. T. Thirumeny (Head, API and Unit 2). They provided valuable insights into the latest manufacturing technologies, quality control measures, and production processes. A highlight of the visit was the exposure to Industry 4.0 operations, featuring advanced robotic systems and automated manufacturing technologies, which greatly impressed the participants.

This impactful training program was conceptualized and led by Dr. S. Pazhanivelan, Director, Centre for Water and Geospatial Studies, TNAU. The industrial visit was further guided and supported by Dr. P.C. Prabu, Associate Professor, who accompanied the Rwandan engineers and ensured an engaging, practical, and enriching learning experience.
