TNAU organized the beekeeping training to the Central Industrial Security Force

The Department of Agricultural Entomology, Centre for Plant Protection Studies Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore organized the beekeeping training to the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) officers at Airport, Coimbatore on May 29, 2025 (Thursday). The training was aimed to create awareness among the Central Security Personnel. Also, this training focused to raise awareness about the role of honey bees in Agriculture, Forest ecosystem, Medicine and other fields. 


The program included identification of different bee species, handling bee colonies, inspection of bee colonies, colony uniting, dividing, and value-added bee products. Dr.V.R.Saminathan, Professor Department of Agricultural Entomology, CPPS, TNAU explained about bee colonies installation and its management. Additionally, officers involved in handling bee frames to dispel fears about bee sting. The event was presided over by Shri. Shashi Ranjan, Senior Commandant and Shri Hakeem Asif Yousuf, Deputy Commandant. The officials of CISF have participated and appreciated that the training was very much useful to them.
