The grand festival of Arulmigu Mayandi Temple at Pethanadarpatti, near Pavoorchatram in Tenkasi district, was celebrated in a grand manner on Friday, July 18. Following this, the 31st Annual Floodlight Kabaddi Tournament was conducted by the Lucky Star team of Pethanadarpatti. Over 100 teams not just from Tenkasi district but from across Tamil Nadu participated in this tournament.
T-shirts were gifted to the players and team members of the Lucky Star team by the Voice of Tenkasi Foundation. The foundation's founder and BJP Tenkasi District President Ananthan Ayyasamy personally visited the event, praised the players, and motivated them with his words.
In his speech, he said: "It is heartening to witness such well-organized kabaddi tournaments. It's commendable that youth are actively participating in these traditional sports. The person who laid the foundation for youth to play such traditional games was none other than Kamarajar Ayya. He was the one who opened the doors of education for all and also implemented many schemes to promote sports even in those days. It is because of Kamaraj that we are educated and live in a civilized society today.
Now, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is fulfilling the dreams of that great leader Kamaraj. By allocating thousands of crores in the budget for sports, he has made India shine on the global sports stage."
He further appreciated the efforts of the Lucky Star Kabaddi team of Pethanadarpatti for continuously encouraging district-level sports events.
The event was attended by BJP Union President Marimuthu, Vice President Raja, Treasurer Kannan, Executive Karmeganathan, District General Secretary Arul Selvan, Branch President Kannan, and a large number of party functionaries and volunteers.
