Social welfare development projects worth ₹20 crores will be implemented through the Rotary Club, including ultra-modern toilet facilities and digital classrooms in government schools, and the provision of cervical cancer vaccines for adolescent girls.
Rotary District 3000 Governor J. Karthik shared this information during a press meet in Madurai. He further stated:
The Rotary District 3000 comprises eight districts—Madurai, Trichy, Perambalur, Theni, Dindigul, Karur, Pudukkottai, and Perambalur. It includes 150 clubs with 7,000 members. The period from July 1, 2025, to June 30, 2026, is named the "Rotary Dream Year." The theme for the year is to “carry forward and realize future dreams for social development.”
As part of this initiative, various welfare projects worth ₹20 crores will be carried out across these eight districts. With rising global awareness around cervical cancer, 15,000 adolescent girls will be vaccinated against it. Each vaccine dose costs ₹4,000, and the total cost of ₹3 crores will cover camps in schools and colleges to administer the vaccine.
Additionally, to improve the health and hygiene of government school students, ultra-modern toilet facilities will be constructed in 50 schools. Each school will receive facilities worth ₹7.5 lakhs, totaling ₹3.75 crores.
Similarly, two digital classrooms per school will be set up in 50 government schools, with interactive smart boards, at a cost of ₹1.25 crores. These facilities will be on par with those in private schools.
Moreover, ₹10 crores will be invested in the construction of a modern gas-based crematorium, an indoor sports complex integrating various games, affordable community halls for public use, and auditoriums for student discussions and seminars. Site selections for these projects are already underway and preliminary preparations have begun.
Apart from this, seven social welfare schemes focusing on student welfare, women’s welfare, and public well-being will be implemented over the next seven months.
Overall, multiple social welfare projects totaling ₹20 crores will be executed through the Rotary Club over the course of one year. These initiatives will be funded with contributions from Rotary members. The organization also plans to expand its membership by over 1,500 new members and form several new clubs during this year.
District Assistant Trainer Alagappan, Zonal Coordinators Ramesh, Ramanathan, Antony Premkumar, Assistant Governor Nellai Balu, and Jallikattu Rotary Club President Kathiravan were also present.
