JIPMER is a Regional Resource Centre (RRC) for Telemedicine activities for South Indian States including Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamilnadu and Puducherry supported by e-Health Division of Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (MoH&FW), Govt of India.
Various International and National Telemedicine projects are running in JIPMER including National Medical College Network (NMCN) Project, National Knowledge Network (NKN), ISRO Project, Tele-Drone Project, BIMSTEC Telemedicine Project, Morocco Telemedicine Project, etc.
In this line Dr. Vir Singh Negi, Director, JIPMER has commissioned the following new Telemedicine initiatives.
‘JIPMER Tele-Yanam Service’ connecting JIPMER Yanam Centre with JIPMER Puducherry by establishing Telemedicine Unit in JIPMER Yanam and JIPMER Emergency Medical Service (EMS) Block and Woman & Children Hospital (WCH) Block to provide 24x7 online consultations to patients of Yanam.
‘JIPMER Tele-Ambulance Service’ in which JIPMER Ambulance has been fully equipped with Telemedicine equipment so that patients can be seen and treatment initiated online by EMS Doctor at the site of accident even before shifting the patient to JIPMER EMS.
Patient-Attendant Online Feedback Kiosks’ have been installed in three floors of the Emergency Medical Service Block as part of improving patient care in Emergency Medical Service (EMS). This Kiosk will allow patients and attendants to give their feedback about healthcare provided in JIPMER EMS and based on feedback from patients and attendants necessary measures are taken by JIPMER authorities time to time.
JIPMER also in the process of introducing ‘Patient-Attendant Navigation System, App’ by which patient & attendant can get guidance online to find the particular OPD, Block, Department, Section, Lab where patient, attendant wishes to visit for their treatment saving their time in locating the OPD, Department, etc.
