BIS Standards Conclave Programme conducted in Tiruchirappalli

The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), the National Standards Body of India functioning under the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Government of India, through its Coimbatore Branch Office, conducted the BIS Standards Conclave Programme at Kalaiarangam, Tiruchirappalli, in coordination with the Tiruchirappalli District Tiny & Small-Scale Industries Association (TIDITSSIA). The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from across various industry representatives, entrepreneurs, industry associations, academicians, students, and officials from BIS.


The conclave served as a platform to raise awareness on the significance of standards in ensuring quality, safety, and competitiveness across industries. It featured technical sessions, industry interactions, and discussions highlighting how standards promote innovation, build consumer trust, and enable access to global markets.


The programme commenced with the Morning Standards Conclave Session, where Shri V. Ramesh, Scientist-E & Director, Bureau of Indian Standards, Coimbatore, delivered a detailed presentation on the role of BIS in ensuring Quality culture, Importance of World standards day and explained the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), highlighting how standardization supports sustainability, consumer safety, and industrial growth. 


Shri A. Arivazhagan, Scientist-D & Joint Director, Bureau of Indian Standards, Coimbatore, addressed the various queries raised by participants.
