Inauguration of Divyangjan Seva Wing at Madurai Brahma Kumaris Rajayoga Centre

The Brahma Kumaris, a spiritual and service-oriented organization working globally, inaugurated its Divyangjan Seva Wing (Service Wing for the Differently-Abled) at the Madurai Sub-Zone with great enthusiasm and participation from various dignitaries.


The event was presided over by Rajayogini B.K. Uma, In-charge of Brahma Kumaris, Madurai Sub-Zone. In her address, she emphasized that, “Differently-abled persons, despite physical limitations, can achieve progress in life through self-confidence, spirituality, and inner strength. What they need most is encouragement and moral-spiritual support.”


Rajayogi B.K. Jeyakumar, in his speech, stressed that spiritual values help enhance mental strength and balance, which are crucial for the differently-abled to lead empowered lives.


The keynote address was delivered by Group Captain (Rtd.) B.K. Suresh Prakash, Ex-IAF Fighter Pilot and Coordinator of the Divyangjan Seva Wing. He stated, “Society is gradually shifting from focusing on disabilities to recognizing the abilities of differently-abled persons. Providing them with equal opportunities in education, employment, and community life is the primary vision of this service wing.”


Adding further strength to the program, Dr. M. Abdul Kadir, Former Principal of Wakf Board College and President of Breakthrough Science Society, Madurai Chapter, addressed the gathering. In his speech, he said, “It is the responsibility of every individual in society to treat differently-abled persons with dignity, to ensure equal access to education and employment, and to create opportunities for them to live with self-respect. A society that uplifts its differently-abled members is a truly progressive society.”


The felicitations were delivered by:


Mrs. R. Rajakumari, Executive Director, M.S. Chellamuthu Trust and Research Foundation, who explained their contributions in mental health and community service.


Mrs. Kamakshi Swaminathan, National Vice-President, SAKSHAM Pan India Service Organization, who said, “Equal opportunities for differently-abled individuals are the foundation for true social progress.”


Dr. P. Andavar Jayadev, State President, Special Olympics Bharat – Tamil Nadu, who spoke about how participation in sports can significantly uplift the quality of life of differently-abled athletes.


CA SL. Sethumadhavan, Rotary Club Madurai Star, who underlined the role of social organizations in creating professional and economic opportunities for the differently-abled.


The program concluded with a vote of thanks by the Madurai Sub-Zone coordinators, who expressed gratitude to all guests, participants, and supporters. The inauguration marked the beginning of a transformative social movement in Madurai, aiming to empower differently-abled individuals and integrate them fully into society. At the end of the rally was inaugurated by the dignitaries.
