SAP, a global leader in enterprise application software and business AI, has launched the SAP Sovereign Cloud in India, a milestone in the nation’s digital sovereignty journey. Fully compliant with India’s National Information Security Policy & Guidelines (NISPG), this cloud solution empowers governments and regulated industries to modernize with cloud and AI while maintaining full control over sensitive data and systems.

In the backdrop of rapid AI-led innovation, the solution strengthens sovereignty across four key dimensions—data, operational, technical, and legal—to build a secure, compliant, and future-ready digital ecosystem. Designed as a full-stack framework spanning infrastructure, platforms, applications, and AI, SAP Sovereign Cloud integrates sovereign controls with open-source foundations to ensure flexibility and innovation at the highest standards. Customers gain deployment choices, including SAP Sovereign Cloud On-Site at their data centers or hyperscaler-based models with AWS, aligning with sovereignty and operational needs. Within the newly inaugurated SAP Labs Innovation Park, Bengaluru, the company has also unveiled a Secure Operational Facility, purpose-built to meet stringent National Security Authority requirements and serve as a strategic hub for compliance, innovation, and co-creation with Indian customers.

Speaking on the launch, Martin Merz, President, SAP Sovereign Cloud, said: “Digital sovereignty supports public sector and regulated industry customers in creating a foundation that is secure, resilient, and future-ready. With SAP Sovereign Cloud in India, we are proud to support the country’s journey as a hub for innovation, offering customers the freedom to embrace cloud and AI while retaining full control over data and operations.”

Adding to this, Manish Prasad, President & Managing Director, SAP Indian Subcontinent, stated: “The launch of SAP Sovereign Cloud underscores our unwavering commitment to India’s digital transformation. By ensuring data remains secure, compliant, and within sovereign boundaries, we enable regulated industries to innovate fearlessly and support the nation’s vision of a self-reliant, technologically empowered future.”
