The Tamil Nadu Apex Skill Development Centre for Healthcare (TNASDC-HC), in collaboration with the Directorate of Industrial Safety & Health, Government of Tamil Nadu, successfully conducted the Industry Meet – SHIELD – Tamil Nadu 2025 yesterday at the Indian Medical Association Hall, Madurai.
The event, held under the theme “Safety, Health, Industrial Engagement for Long-term Development: The Southern Tamil Nadu Model,” witnessed enthusiastic participation from industry leaders, medical experts, safety professionals, and academia.
The meet featured two panel discussions and a poster presentation session:
Panel 1: Reimagining Industrial Health – Safety Training as the Cornerstone of Workforce Well-being
Panelists included Dr. Major R Vijay Anand (Ramco), Dr. R. Kailasam (Vedanta Limited), Dr. Sivakumar (SRM Trichy), Mr. Kodeeswaran (MADITSSIA), Dr. Narendra Nath Jena (Meenakshi Mission Hospital), and Dr. R. Prabhu (NRP Industrial Safety Equipment & Services).
Panel 2: Future Workforce for Safer Industries – Education, Training & Multi-Sector Synergy
The discussion featured Dr. R. Balajinathan (Chettinad Medical College), Dr. Harihara Sudan (Siemens Health Vertical), Dr. K. S. Vignesh (SRM Institute of Science & Technology), Dr. A. Azhagurajan (Mepco Schlenk Engineering College), and Dr. Vishruth Palaniappan (TVS Groups, Madurai). The session was moderated by Mr. K. Arul, Former Additional Director, Directorate of Industrial Safety & Health, Government of Tamil Nadu.
A special address was delivered by Mr. Sampath, Past President of MADITSSIA, who emphasized the importance of industry-led initiatives in promoting safety culture and workforce well-being.
The poster presentation showcased innovative research, practices, and industry-driven solutions focusing on safety, health, and workforce training.
The entire event was coordinated by Mr. Lenin Pius, Senior Program Manager – Training & Operations, TNASDC-HC, ensuring smooth conduct and active engagement of all participants.
The meet concluded with a strong call for collaborative efforts between industry and academia to enhance workplace safety, improve workforce well-being, and build sustainable industrial ecosystems for the future of Tamil Nadu.
