The Centre of Excellence in Biotechnology (COXBIT) at Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU), Coimbatore and Department of Plant Biotechnology, Centre for Plant Molecular Biology & Biotechnology (CPMB&B), jointly organized a guest lecture on August 30th, 2025 on “Expectations of industries from candidates and decoding how to fullfill the same”. The under graduates of B.Tech Biotechnology & Bioinformatics (150 Nos.) were participated in this event.
COXBIT is dedicated to advancing research and development activities in biotechnology through a public-private partnership model. The Centre is equipped with modern infrastructure covering 1.06 lakh sq. ft., including cabin and floor spaces for start-ups, student entrepreneurs and companies to foster research innovations.
Smt. Sowbarnika Loganathan, Assistant Team Lead in Administration and Facilities, M/s. Molecular Connections Pvt. Ltd, Coimbatore delivered an insightful lecture to the students sharing valuable perspectives on career success. During her address, she emphasized the importance of both technical skills and soft skills for collaboration in professional environments. The technical expertise is vital qualities like teamwork and a positive mindset can have a significant impact on career success, she added.
In an interactive session with students, she responded to several key questions. she highlighted need for students to focus on self-preparation, mastering communication skills, deepening their subject knowledge and practicing consistently. When asked about aligning with industry needs, she advised, "Research companies, understand market trends, and ensure your skills meet industry expectations." She also spoke about adapting to company cultures, committing to lifelong learning and focusing on targeted job applications as crucial for long-term career success.
