Bhumi, one of India’s largest independent youth-volunteer NGOs, has achieved a major milestone through its flagship Skill-Ed employability program, which has trained 20,000+ underprivileged youth since 2021, including 58% women. In the 2024–25 batch alone, the program facilitated 3,471 job placements, addressing employability gaps highlighted in the India Skills Report 2024. The initiative offers free, industry-aligned training in Core Java, Python, Data Science, AI & ML, Web Development, Advanced MS Office, Emerging Technologies, and Soft Skills, targeting youth aged 18–24 from families earning ₹5 lakh or less.

Skill-Ed provides flexible virtual and hybrid sessions, mentorship from corporate experts, and robust placement support. For 2024–25, the program enabled placements across IT, ITES, Core Engineering, and Healthcare, with an average salary of ₹2.5 LPA and a highest package of ₹5 LPA. More than 6,000 student profiles from 40+ colleges in Tamil Nadu were consolidated to streamline recruiter engagement. Companies engaged for recruitment include Accenture, Tech Mahindra, Yamaha Music India Pvt. Ltd., Tata Electronics, Mphasis, Hitachi, Omega Healthcare, Firstsource, AVASOFT, and Tata Consultancy Services. Guest lectures were also conducted by experts from CGI, Firstsource, and PayPal.

Program beneficiaries report strong personal and professional growth. Aron S, a final-year Computer Science Engineering student from Thoothukudi, credited Skill-Ed for enhancing his coding, communication, and interview skills, enabling him to secure a ₹5 LPA offer. Bhumi’s Co-Founder Dr. Prahalathan K K highlighted that Skill-Ed bridges the skills-to-employment gap by empowering underserved youth through expert-led training.
