Dr. B. Kesavamoorthy of Meenakshi Hospital shines as sole Asian finalist at TCT 2025 global forum

In a proud recognition for Indian cardiology, Dr. B. Kesavamoorthy, Head of the Department of Cardiology at Meenakshi Hospital - Thanjavur was the only cardiologist from India to present at the prestigious ‘Cases with the Masters’ session at the Transcatheter Cardiovascular Therapeutics (TCT) 2025 Conference, held in San Francisco, USA, from October 25 to 28, 2025.


The TCT 2025 Conference, organised by the Cardiovascular Research Foundation (CRF), is the world’s premier educational forum in interventional cardiovascular medicine. Now in its 37th edition, TCT 2025 brought together thousands of clinicians, researchers, and innovators to share cutting-edge developments in cardiovascular science, technology, and practice.


The ‘Cases with the Masters’ session is one of the most anticipated highlights of the TCT Conference, where leading interventional cardiologists from around the world present their most challenging and innovative clinical cases before a panel of global experts. Dr. Kesavamoorthy was the only finalist from India to reach the global stage of this elite competition. His case, titled “The Handmade Covered Stent: For Type III Coronary Artery Perforation,” was recognised for its innovation and clinical precision in managing a rare and life-threatening coronary complication using a handmade stent creatively prepared to save patients.


This year, the conference received 912 case submissions from 54 countries, out of which 32 cases — 18 coronary, 8 structural, and 6 endovascular — were selected for the Grand Finale. Dr. Kesavamoorthy’s case went on to win the Runner-Up Award, bringing international recognition to Meenakshi Hospital Thanjavur and highlighting India’s growing stature in interventional cardiology.
