G Square Group has acquired five acres of land in central Madurai, securing a historic property that once belonged to T. V. Sundaram Iyengar, founder of the TVS Group, according to sources.
The land is widely believed to be the first property established by the TVS Group in Madurai and is located in one of the city’s culturally prominent precincts. The site holds considerable historical value, marking the early footprint of the TVS Group in the region and reflecting Madurai’s transition from a traditional trade centre to an emerging industrial city.
Those familiar with the development said the acquisition marks a key transition for one of the city’s notable real estate assets. The project is expected to take into account the heritage value of the site, than follow a routine redevelopment approach.
The acquisition adds to G Square Group’s growing presence in Madurai, a market that continues to draw investor interest amid steady infrastructure expansion and the city’s continuing cultural importance.
