BIS Coimbatore Conducts Two-Day Residential Training for Standards Club Mentors

The BIS Coimbatore Branch Office organized a Two‑Day Residential Training Programme titled “Module for Training of Mentors of Standards Clubs” on 8th & 9th January 2026 at the Galleria, Hotel CAG Pride, Coimbatore.


 The event aims to train mentors from schools and colleges in quality, standardization, and the functioning of BIS Standards Clubs. Day-1 08 Jan, 2026 begins with registration followed by inauguration featuring welcome & inaugural addresses and introduction of participants led by Shri Rino John, Scientist‑E/ Director, BIS. The “About BIS” session will provide an overview of BIS activities by Shri Vinith kumar G, Scientist‑E/Director, BIS. Next the “Standardization and Quality Ecosystem” session focusing on quality concepts and academia‑BIS collaboration, addressed by Shri Rino John, Scientist‑E/Director.


The “BIS Standards Clubs” session covers objectives, mentor roles, and club activities run by Shri Saravana Kumar G, Standards Promotion Officer, BIS. Session followed by “BIS Informational Resources”, briefing features of BIS website and CARE App by Smt Ragu Jyotsna Priya, Scientist‑C/ Deputy Director, BIS. The day ends with “Introduction to Standards” explaining what a standard is and how to write one, summarized by Shri Rino John, followed by a workshop distributing Indian Standards for self‑study. 


The “Writing Standards” session introduces ‘Learn Science via Standards’ screened by Smt Ragu Jyotsna Priya. Standard Writing Workshop where groups of mentors work on assigned subjects. A quiz competition tests mentors on the subjects covered.


This two-day residential training program enables mentors from schools and colleges to inspire and share their knowledge to students about the importance of standards and quality.
