Tourism Malaysia Chennai, in collaboration with the Sabah Tourism Board and supported by Royal Brunei Airlines and Trek Finder Tours, organised the six-day “Sabah Cycling Paradise” FAM Tour from 24–29 January 2026. The first-of-its-kind cycling familiarisation programme from India showcased Sabah’s scenic coastal routes, highlands and cultural towns across Kota Kinabalu, Kota Belud, Kota Marudu, Kudat, Kundasang and Tamparuli, positioning the destination strongly for cycling, eco-tourism and adventure travel under Visit Malaysia Year 2026.
The tour was flagged off at the Sabah Tourism Board office by Mr. Julinus Jeffery Jimit, CEO, Sabah Tourism Board, in the presence of Mr. Hishamuddin Mustafa, Director, Tourism Malaysia Chennai, and tourism stakeholders. Royal Brunei Airlines, the Official Airline Partner, offers seamless Chennai–Sabah connectivity via Brunei and supports sports tourism through additional baggage allowance for equipment under its Royal Skies programme.
Mr. Hishamuddin Mustafa said the initiative reflects Tourism Malaysia Chennai’s focus on promoting experiential and niche tourism from India while encouraging sustainable, high-value travel. The programme also aligns with Visit Sabah 2027 efforts, inviting Indian cycling communities and tour operators to explore Sabah as a premier cycling destination.
