Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) yesterday announced the successful upgradation of Government ITI Deogiri in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra, marking an important milestone in its partnership with the Government of Maharashtra to strengthen the Industrial Training Institute (ITI) ecosystem in the state. As part of this initiative, TKM has also supported the modernization of 16 Government ITIs across the Marathwada and Nagpur divisions, with the aim of equipping rural youth with industry-relevant technical skills and improving their employability in India’s rapidly evolving manufacturing and automotive sectors.
The initiative is built on three key pillars: faculty development, infrastructure upgradation and cultural transformation. Faculty members will benefit from Train-the-Trainer (T3) programs, skill-building workshops and knowledge sessions conducted at Toyota’s Bidadi facility. The institutes will also receive modern lab equipment, upgraded workshops and industry-relevant training materials such as Fundamental Skill Training kits, dexterity modules and visual learning boards. In addition, the program will introduce globally recognized 5S practices, safety protocols, environmental awareness and discipline-based routines that help build responsible and industry-ready professionals.
Speaking on the occasion, Mangal Prabhat Lodha, Minister of Skill, Employment, Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Government of Maharashtra, said, “Our youth are the foundation of Maharashtra’s future. By equipping them with industry-relevant skills and confidence, we are strengthening their ability to contribute meaningfully to the state’s and the nation’s growth.”
The program will be implemented in three phases, starting with 17 ITIs in the Marathwada and Nagpur divisions during 2025–26, followed by expansion to Amravati and Nashik divisions between 2026 and 2028, and later to Mumbai and Pune divisions by 2030. The initiative also supports the Government of India’s Skill India Mission, reinforcing efforts to empower youth with future-ready skills and strengthen the country’s skilling ecosystem.
