A heart-touching story of hope, struggle, and timely government intervention has emerged from Avadi, Tamil Nadu, where a young child battling a life-threatening disease was given a second chance at life.
Suganthi K., a resident of Thiruninravur in
Tiruvallur district, had earlier written a plea seeking urgent financial
assistance for her three-year-old son, Monishwar P., who was diagnosed with
Beta Thalassemia Major a severe blood disorder requiring a bone marrow
transplant. Her husband, K. Perumal, an employee at the Heavy Vehicles Factory
(HVF), Avadi under the Ministry of Defence, had also formally requested
financial support through official channels.
In her initial letter dated March 27, 2025,
Suganthi highlighted the critical nature of her son’s condition and the urgent
need for a bone marrow transplant at Rajiv Gandhi Government Hospital, Chennai.
The estimated cost of ₹9.46 lakh was beyond the family’s financial capacity.
Doctors had advised immediate treatment, emphasizing that children below five
years have a higher success rate for such procedures.
Responding to the request, financial assistance
of ₹8,51,400 was sanctioned through official support mechanisms linked to the
Prime Minister’s Office. This intervention proved crucial in ensuring timely
treatment.
The surgery was successfully conducted on July
21, 2025, at the government hospital in Chennai. Today, Monishwar has recovered
well and is in good health.
In a heartfelt letter of gratitude addressed to Narendra Modi, Suganthi
expressed her deep appreciation for the timely help extended to her family. She
credited the support as life-saving and thanked the authorities for responding
to her plea during a time of immense distress.
This case highlights the importance of responsive
governance and institutional support in critical medical situations. It also
reflects how timely financial assistance can transform lives, offering hope to
families facing similar challenges across the country.
