250 Participants Join Yoga Day Celebration at GKNM Hospital

Marking the 12th international Yoga Day, the Department of Alternative Medicine at GKNM Hospital organized a grand Yoga Awareness Programme at the GKNM IOP (Integrated Outpatient) Centre, Coimbatore.


The programme was inaugurated by Dr. Ragupathy Veluswamy, Chief Executive Officer, GKNM Hospital, who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. He was joined by Dr. Ragavendra, Medical Director, Dr. Priyadharshini, Consultant - Alternative Medicine, and Dr. Subramanian Gandhi, Consultant-Alternative Medicine.


The event witnessed an enthusiastic participation of nearly 250 individuals, who came together for a mass yoga demonstration conducted on a specially arranged stage. The yoga sessions, including the Common Yoga Protocol, were led by Dr. Priyadharshini and Dr. Subramanian Gandhi, highlighting the importance of yoga in promoting physical, mental, and emotional well-being.


As part of the awareness initiative, participants also benefited from free blood pressure and blood sugar screening, enabling early health assessment and preventive care. Nutritious food stalls were set up at the venue to promote healthy eating habits and holistic wellness.


Addressing the gathering, the dignitaries emphasized that yoga is a powerful practice that helps align the mind and body towards a common purpose, fostering balance, discipline, and overall health.


To encourage continued participation in healthy lifestyle practices, all attendees were presented with certificates of participation and commemorative caps.


The programme successfully reinforced the significance of yoga as an integral component of preventive healthcare and wellness, receiving an overwhelming response from the community.
