An Anti-Drug Awareness Day programme was organized at the Erode District Collectorate premises under the leadership of District Collector Kandasamy, on behalf of the District Child Protection Unit.
The District Collector administered a pledge highlighting the harmful effects of drug addiction. He affirmed that he would never fall prey to drugs, would guide his family and friends to stay away from addiction, and would contribute to rehabilitating those affected. He also pledged to support government efforts to eradicate drug production, consumption, and usage in Tamil Nadu for the welfare of the people and the progress of the state. Students, volunteers, and government officials followed him in taking the pledge.
Students from 15 children’s homes presented exhibitions on the ill effects of drug use. The top three participants were awarded trophies and certificates of appreciation by the District Collector.
Police officers from bus stands, railway stations, and members of the Singappenn special force were honored with medals and certificates for their cooperation with the Child Protection Unit.
District Superintendent of Police Kiran Sruthi, District Revenue Officer Santhakumar, District Supply Officer Ramkumar, District Child Protection Officer T. Umamaheswari, Office Manager (Excise) Veeralakshmi, and Child Protection Unit Coordinator Kamalaveni were among those who attended.
