Mannar Thirumalai Naicker College conducted an orientation programme for first-year students on Wednesday to help them adapt to college life and familiarize themselves with the institution's academic and support services.
The programme was presided over by Principal Dr. Ramasubbaiah. College Chairman Vijayaraghavan presided over the inaugural session, while Secretary Engineer Sridhar delivered the welcome address. Honorary Chairman Engineer Rajagopal, Treasurer Azhwarsamy, and Self-Financing Wing Director Prabhu conveyed their greetings to the students.
The chief guest, Samidurair, addressed the students and urged them to uphold the values of truth, honesty, and humanity throughout their lives. He encouraged them to make education the primary goal of their academic journey and illustrated the importance of discipline through inspiring real-life stories.
Principal Dr. Ramasubbaiah introduced the students to the college's development initiatives, academic activities, and key administrative personnel, including the Placement Officer, Controller of Examinations, Librarian, Director of Physical Education, NAAC Coordinator, various deans, heads of departments, and administrative officers.
The orientation also featured awareness sessions conducted in different halls on topics such as law and order, anti-ragging measures, drug abuse prevention, mental and physical health, career opportunities, competitive examination coaching, and effective methods for improving English language proficiency.
Students were later taken on a guided tour of the campus. Members of the Rotaract Club welcomed each first-year student with a greeting card containing 1,330 Thirukkural couplets and sweets.
Earlier, Lakshmi Krithika delivered the welcome address, while Dr. Ramachandran proposed the vote of thanks. The programme was compered by Dr. Ranjith Kumar. The event was organised by the college's NAAC Committee.
