Chief Electoral Officer Inspects EVM Warehouse in Coimbatore

Tamil Nadu Chief Electoral Officer and Principal Secretary to the Government, Archana Patnaik, conducted a quarterly inspection of the district Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) warehouse located within the South Taluk Office campus in Coimbatore on June 24, 2026.


The inspection was carried out in the presence of District Election Officer and District Collector Pawan Kumar G. Giriyappanavar, along with representatives of recognized political parties.


During the visit, the Chief Electoral Officer reviewed the storage arrangements and security measures in place for safeguarding the electronic voting machines. She inspected both the interior and exterior infrastructure of the warehouse and assessed the security arrangements maintained by the police department.


Officials briefed her on the 24-hour surveillance and monitoring systems implemented at the facility. She also examined the functioning of the CCTV cameras installed in and around the warehouse to ensure continuous monitoring and compliance with Election Commission guidelines.


The inspection was attended by Maheswari, Personal Assistant (Elections) to the District Collector; Tahsildar Thanigaivel; South Revenue Divisional Officer Maruthi Priya; and representatives of recognized political parties, among others.


The quarterly inspection forms part of routine measures undertaken by election authorities to ensure the safe custody, security, and transparency of electronic voting machines used in the electoral process.
