The Minister was welcomed by Britto, Chairman of the Madurai Integrated Textile Park, who briefed him on the park’s operations and development. Established under the Scheme for Integrated Textile Parks (SITP), the project aims to provide world-class infrastructure to textile manufacturing units.
Spread across 107.49 acres, the park has a total project cost of ₹78.76 crore, including ₹31.43 crore from the Central Government and ₹7.09 crore from the State Government. Currently, 22 textile units operate within the park, generating direct employment for 3,191 workers and indirect employment for around 1,500 people.
The Minister visited weaving, zipper manufacturing, home textile, garment, and technical textile units and interacted with workers regarding wages, working conditions, safety, and welfare facilities. Four companies in the park export textile products worth ₹860 crore annually to markets including the United States, Europe, Australia, France, and Canada.
