Dindigul District Collector Durga Moorthy and District Revenue Officer Jayabharathi planted saplings along the tank bund in Sithayankottai Town Panchayat. The Collector directed the town panchayat administration to ensure proper maintenance of saplings planted along roadsides, tank bunds, and in public parks.

As part of an Integrated Cleanliness Drive conducted across town panchayats in Dindigul district, sanitation workers under the leadership of Executive Officer Jayamalu, along with Sanitary Inspector Abubakkar, Sanitary Supervisor Vijaya, and other cleanliness staff, carried out extensive cleaning activities in areas under the Sithayankottai Town Panchayat to improve public health and hygiene.

The tank bund located on the road from Athoor to Sithayankottai was cleaned, and arrangements were made to plant useful tree saplings for the benefit of the public.

During the programme, District Collector Durga Moorthy, District Revenue Officer Jayabharathi, Social Security Scheme Deputy Collector Henry Peter, and Athoor Tahsildar Muthumurugan planted saplings of Kumil, Neem, Pungai, and Mango trees along the tank bund.

Speaking on the occasion, the District Collector emphasized that planting saplings alone was not sufficient and that they must be properly maintained to ensure their growth. He instructed the town panchayat officials to take responsibility for their upkeep and stated that he would personally monitor and inspect the maintenance of the planted saplings.

Town Panchayat Head Clerk Muralimohan and several municipal staff members also participated in the event.

Members of the public appreciated the efforts of the Sithayankottai Town Panchayat Administration for cleaning the tank bund and organizing the tree-planting initiative, which is expected to enhance the local environment and benefit the community.
