Kia India, one of the country’s leading mass-premium automobile manufacturers, has announced a series of sustainability-focused initiatives across its network of over 500 workshops and corporate offices to mark World Environment Day 2026. The initiatives reaffirm the company’s commitment to environmental stewardship, responsible business practices, and sustainable mobility.
As part of the campaign, participating Kia workshops will offer complimentary vehicle emission checks and conduct awareness sessions on vehicle performance and its environmental impact. The company will also launch an e-waste awareness and collection drive, designating 31 workshops as authorized collection centres with a target of collecting more than 1,000 kilograms of discarded electronic waste from customers and employees.
To strengthen environmentally responsible operations, Kia India will conduct specialized training programmes for workshop personnel on the proper handling, storage, and disposal of used oil. Additionally, sapling distribution and plantation drives will be organized across multiple locations to support ecological conservation efforts.
The company will also engage customers through awareness sessions focused on sustainability, resource conservation, and environmental responsibility. Further reinforcing its sustainability agenda, Kia India will promote energy conservation across its facilities and encourage the adoption of renewable energy solutions, including solar power generation at workshops.
"Sustainability is an integral part of our business strategy and culture. Through initiatives such as emission checks, e-waste collection drives, renewable energy adoption, and community engagement programmes, we aim to create a meaningful environmental impact while encouraging responsible practices among all stakeholders," said Bhimsen Gulabani.
Currently, Kia India operates 132 Green Workshops that collectively generate 9.8 MW of solar power, contributing to cleaner operations and reduced carbon emissions. Beyond its workshop network, the company continues to advance sustainability at its Anantapur manufacturing facility through renewable energy adoption, wastewater reuse systems, and resource-efficient practices aimed at building a greener and more sustainable future.
