A World Wind Day awareness programme was organized by the Environment Club at the Panchayat Union Middle School in Keezhakottai, under Kalaiyarkovil Union in Sivagangai district. The event focused on creating awareness about the importance of wind energy and environmental protection.
The programme was presided over by Headmistress Deivaanai.
Speaking on the occasion, Environment Club Coordinator and Sivaganga District President of the Tamil Nadu Science Movement, science graduate teacher Arokiyasamy, explained the significance of World Wind Day. He noted that the day has been observed globally on June 15 every year since 2007 to highlight the importance of wind as a renewable energy resource.
He stated that the primary objective of World Wind Day is to raise awareness about the benefits of wind energy and encourage further advancements in the renewable energy sector. The day also emphasizes the role of clean energy in environmental conservation and sustainable development.
Arokiyasamy further stressed the importance of creating awareness about air quality, renewable energy and environmental protection, adding that planting more trees is one of the most effective ways to ensure cleaner air for future generations.
English graduate teacher Geetha conducted breathing exercises for students and explained the importance of clean air and proper breathing practices. Computer Instructor Vidhya delivered the vote of thanks.
Students and teachers participated enthusiastically in the programme, which highlighted the need to protect natural resources and promote sustainable energy solutions.
