A Diploma Programme in Aviation was inaugurated at Thiravium College of Arts and Science for Women, located near Periyakulam in Theni district, in collaboration with The Rising Aviation Institute, Kochi, Kerala. The inaugural function was held at the college seminar hall in the presence of academicians, industry experts and students.
Delivering the inaugural address, Dr. M. Abdul Kadir, Dean (Science & Humanities), Sethu Institute of Technology, Kariyapatti, Virudhunagar District, highlighted the tremendous growth of the aviation industry in India and abroad. He said that the rapid expansion of airports and airline services has created enormous employment opportunities for young graduates in areas such as airport management, airline operations, cabin crew services, cargo handling, customer service and aviation security.
He further emphasized that students who develop strong communication skills in English, professional ethics, self-confidence and industry-specific competencies would be well positioned to secure rewarding careers across the globe. He noted that careers in aviation not only offer attractive salaries but also provide social prestige, international exposure and excellent opportunities for professional advancement.
Mr. Naga Subramaniam, Managing Director of The Rising Aviation Institute, Kochi, explained the unique features of the diploma programme, including industry-oriented training, practical exposure, placement guidance and career development initiatives designed to prepare students for employment in the aviation sector.
Earlier, Dr. Pandiarajan, Chairman of Thiravium Educational Institutions, presided over the function and announced that a model aircraft would be procured to facilitate hands-on practical training for students enrolled in the programme.
Welcoming the gathering, Dr. Gomathi, Principal of Thiravium College, observed that professionally oriented programmes such as aviation studies play a vital role in enhancing the employability and skill development of women students.
The vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. Reena, Vice Principal. To commemorate the inauguration of the programme, dignitaries and students planted saplings on the college campus, reaffirming their commitment to sustainable development and environmental conservation.
