Hindustan Zinc Limited has reported its strongest-ever first-quarter performance for FY27, with revenue from operations rising 77% year-on-year to ₹13,747 crore and net profit surging 145% to a record ₹5,469 crore. The company also posted its highest-ever quarterly EBITDA of ₹8,074 crore, supported by record first-quarter mined metal production of 268 KT and its lowest-ever quarterly zinc cost of production at US$851 per tonne.
During the quarter, the company announced a first interim dividend of ₹11 per share, secured the mining lease for the Gundlupet Rare Earth Elements (REE) and Yttrium Block in Karnataka, and increased renewable power consumption to 22% of its total power usage. The Board also appointed Amarendu Prakash as Chief Executive Officer and Whole-time Director, effective August 1, 2026, while Amit Gupta assumed charge as Chief Financial Officer from June 1, 2026.
Commenting on the performance, Arun Misra, Chief Executive Officer, Hindustan Zinc, said, "We have started the year on a strong note with our highest-ever first-quarter mined metal production for the fifth consecutive year, reflecting the strength of our world-class assets and operational excellence. As demand for zinc continues to be driven by infrastructure and the energy transition, we remain committed to delivering responsible growth and long-term value for our stakeholders."
