The Department of Costume Design and Fashion at Kongu Arts and Science College (Autonomous), Erode, organized a Faculty Development Programme on “Future of Textile Design: Tools, Techniques and Smart Technologies”, which was inaugurated on August 17,2026. The programme was organized with financial support from the AICTE Training and Learning (ATAL) Academy.
The programme was inaugurated by the Correspondent, P. Sachithanandan, by lighting the traditional kuthuvilakku. Dr. H. Vasudevan, Principal, delivered the felicitation address, while Dr. S. Manjula, Head, Department of Costume Design and Fashion, delivered the welcome address.
Dr. O. L. Shanmugasundaram, Deputy Director, Central Institute of Coir Technology, Karnataka, and Director, Central Coir Research Institute, Kerala, inaugurated the training programme and delivered the inaugural address.
The programme focused on emerging trends in textile design, innovative tools and techniques, digital technologies, and smart technologies shaping the future of the textile and fashion industry. Academic experts, professors, and trainers from various reputed organizations and universities participated as resource persons and shared their expertise and insights with the participating faculty members.
The Faculty Development Programme aims to enhance the knowledge, technical skills, and professional competencies of faculty members by providing exposure to emerging technologies and innovative practices in textile design.
