Kavundampalayam MLA Kanimozhi Santhosh has said that the constituency has taken significant steps towards people-centric development during the first 100 days, with a focus on directly meeting residents, receiving their grievances and coordinating with government departments to resolve them.
According to the MLA, more than 30,000 people have been directly met during this period, while 1,317 petitions have been received. Of these, 953 petitions, or 72.36 per cent, have been resolved, while action is being pursued on the remaining 364 petitions.
To assess problems at the ground level, 323 field inspections were conducted across the constituency. Four review meetings were also held with officials of various government departments to monitor the progress of grievance redressal.
Focus on Basic Amenities
Priority has been given to issues affecting people's day-to-day lives. Action has been taken on 248 drinking water-related petitions, while 232 interventions were made concerning roads, streetlights, drainage and sewerage. Another 189 interventions addressed cleanliness and electricity-related issues.
The MLA said 146 health-related interventions and 23 initiatives concerning schools and colleges were also taken up. A further 115 interventions covered government hospitals, bus and transport facilities, patta and land-related matters, encroachments and government land, besides assistance for senior citizens, persons with disabilities and women.
₹1.83 Crore in Development Works
Development works worth ₹1.83 crore have been implemented in the constituency during the past 100 days. Works planned for the next phase are estimated at ₹3.20 crore, she said.
Kanimozhi Santhosh said transparent and corruption-free public service would remain a priority, with petitions being continuously monitored until appropriate action is taken.
Under the “Green Kavundampalayam” initiative, tree plantation, cleanliness and environmental protection activities are also being promoted.
The MLA has also launched KGF – Intern with MLA (Kavundampalayam Governance Fellowship) to provide young people with practical exposure to fieldwork, government administration and leadership, while encouraging greater youth participation in public governance.
