An international seminar on “Industry 5.0 in the Innovation Era”, aimed at promoting entrepreneurship and innovation in higher education institutions, was organized by the Department of Commerce, Kailash Women’s College, Nangavalli, Salem District.The programme began with the welcome address delivered by the College Principal, Dr. S. Vijayalakshmi. Vice Principal Dr. R. Amuthalakshmi explained the objectives and significance of the conference.Professor Dr. A. Thamizharasu of Haramaya University, Ethiopia, participated as the Chief Guest. Addressing the students, he emphasized the importance of preparing themselves to take advantage of emerging opportunities in the fields of Artificial Intelligence and digital technology.
Dr. S. Jaisankar, Project Officer, Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII), who participated as the Special Guest, encouraged students to develop their innovative abilities and transform their ideas into viable enterprises. He urged the students to become job creators rather than job seekers. He further stated that, under the EDII–Accenture Corporate Social Responsibility project, various Micro Skillpreneurship Development training programmes are being offered free of cost to approximately 2,000 women every year in Tamil Nadu. He encouraged students and aspiring entrepreneurs to make use of these opportunities to develop their business ideas and skills.
Dr. Abdul Kadhar, Entrepreneurship development and Innovation Institute, Government of Tamilnadu explained the various government schemes and initiatives available to encourage and support innovative activities and entrepreneurship. More than 400 students and research scholars enthusiastically participated in the seminar. The programme provided participants with valuable insights into entrepreneurship, innovation, emerging technologies and the opportunities available in the evolving Industry 5.0 era.
