Range Rover has unveiled its first-ever fully electric SUV, marking a major milestone for the iconic luxury vehicle brand. Built at Solihull in the UK, the home of Range Rover production since 1970, Range Rover Electric combines the brand’s renowned luxury, refinement and all-terrain capability with advanced electric propulsion.
The new electric model is quieter, more responsive and delivers more torque than any Range Rover produced to date. It features twin permanent-magnet 260 kW electric motors, generating up to 405 kW of power and 850 Nm of torque. The vehicle offers a claimed range of up to 600 km under the WLTP cycle and a real-world range of up to 535 km, allowing most customers to complete their typical daily journeys without needing to recharge.
MD Martin Limpert, Managing Director, Range Rover, said the vehicle was the result of a decade of engineering and technological development. He said electric propulsion was perfectly suited to Range Rover’s refinement, creating an even calmer and more secluded environment for occupants while maintaining the brand’s performance and capability.
The Range Rover Electric is powered by a usable 118.5 kWh lithium-ion double-stack battery consisting of 344 prismatic cells. Its advanced 800-volt architecture supports rapid charging, enabling the battery to charge from 10% to 80% in around 22 minutes using a 350 kW rapid DC public charger. It can also add up to 220 km of WLTP range in just 10 minutes at its maximum charging rate.
Performance remains a major focus, with the electric SUV capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in as little as 4.5 seconds. It can also accelerate from 80 to 120 km/h in just 2.7 seconds.
New technologies including Intelligent Driveline Dynamics and Integrated Traction Management provide improved control across different driving conditions. The systems can rapidly manage torque and wheel slip, while the new Single Pedal mode allows drivers to handle steep gradients and challenging terrain with greater precision.
Range Rover Electric has completed more than 1.5 million kilometres and over 250,000 hours of virtual and physical testing. Development included testing in temperatures as low as -40°C in Sweden, the extreme heat of the Dubai desert and demanding conditions at JLR’s Eastnor Castle facility in the UK.
The vehicle also features JLR’s ThermAssist heat-management system, designed to improve driving range, charging speed, battery life and performance in extreme temperatures. The system can add up to 40 km of range while reducing heating energy consumption by up to 40%.
Orders are now open for Range Rover Electric, available in standard- and long-wheelbase versions across selected Autobiography and SV models, along with a specially curated First Edition.
