Kauvery Hospital, Tirunelveli, successfully hosted the 5th edition of the Kauvery Marathon at Angelo Matriculation Hr. Sec. School, Palayamkottai, under the theme ‘Run for Your Healthy Heart’. Organised in connection with World Heart Day, observed annually on September 29, the event witnessed enthusiastic participation from more than 3,900 people across different age groups and fitness levels.
The marathon featured the 10 km Run and 5 km Run, with a total prize money of ₹1.25 lakh awarded to the winners across the two categories. The 10 km Run commenced at 6:00 AM, followed by the 5 km Run at 6:15 AM. Both races started and concluded at Angelo Matriculation Hr. Sec. School, Palayamkottai, where the prize distribution ceremony was also held.
The 5 km Run was flagged off by Thiru. Anand Mohan, I.A.S., District Collector, Tirunelveli, while the 10 km Run was flagged off by Thiru. Deshmukh Shekhar Sanjay, I.P.S., Commissioner of Tirunelveli City.
Dr. M. S. Mahboobu Subuhani, Senior Consultant Cardiologist, Kauvery Hospital, Tirunelveli, highlighted the importance of regular physical activity in reducing the risk of heart disease and maintaining cardiovascular health.
Dr. Arun Singh, Consultant Cardiothoracic Surgeon, Kauvery Hospital, Tirunelveli, also shared his expertise on heart health and encouraged participants to adopt active and healthy lifestyles.
The prizes for the male and female winners of both the 5 km and 10 km categories were presented by Dr. P. Avudaiappan, Consultant Urologist, and Er.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. P. Vairamuthu, General Manager – Operations, Kauvery Hospital, Tirunelveli, said, “The 5th edition of the Kauvery Marathon in Tirunelveli reflects the growing importance of making health and physical activity a part of everyday life. Heart health is shaped not only by medical care, but also by the choices we make every day, including staying active.”

The enthusiastic participation of more than 3,900 people, including experienced runners, first-time participants and families, reflects the community’s growing commitment to health and fitness. The marathon also highlighted the importance of preventive healthcare and staying active in maintaining cardiovascular health.
The 5th edition of the Kauvery Marathon in Tirunelveli brought together people across age groups and fitness levels, creating a strong community platform for health and wellbeing.
