Dr. Murugan further highlighted the benefits of PM Matsaya Sampada Yojana. He added it leads India fish export to the record level. With additional investment of Rs. 6,000 Cr.
Fisheries infrastructure is being developed in the islands to develop fish landing centres and cold storage. Fishing sector is to be modernized to exploit it's full potential.
He stated air connectivity is being strengthened in the islands. With construction of new terminal of Veer Savarkar International Airport in Port Blair, government is planning to start the night operations from this Airport. More than 90% work of new terminal has been completed and it is likely to be functional soon. It will enhance air connectivity of Andaman Nicobar with rest of India and South East countries. With this airport the tourism will flourish like never before.
Later, MoS Dr. Murugan inspected the ongoing work of new terminal building of Veer Savarkar International Airport. The airport is being developed with a cost of more than 700 Cr. having 28 checks in counters, 3 boarding bridges. It will be able to handle 40 lakhs passengers per year. In the evening Dr.Muruguan had interacted with beneficiaries of various government schemes and with local people representatives and administrative officials.
